Product Team's Motto

“People don't want to use your software. They want to lose weight, laugh, be entertained, get smarter, spend time with loved ones, go home on time, sleep adequately, eat good food, be happy. Your product is only as good as the experiences it enables people to have.”

Give the best experience possible to the user. Remember, the best experience that the user deserves. Not the best experience that you have the ability to create.

And in most cases, the best experience that the user deserves is much more than the best experience that you have the ability to create.

So, while building, you will have to strive hard, be patient, think more & most importantly, care more for the user.

Most of these sound so obvious. You would say - “yeah obviously, I would do these while building the product. I'm a product engineer, after all”.

And yet, all of us forget these in our day-to-day shipping - that loading animation, its error state, message shown to the users when they make a mistake & the way that message is shown. These are the kind of experiences that we take for granted. Though, these are the experiences that matter.

Arguably, these matter the most. Your product doesn't show its true colors when the users are using it the intended way. The real product shows up when the user fucks up in their journey. How your product handles those situations is what defines it.

The best features, the best experiences are those which are invisible. When the user uses it, it seems so obvious that they forget how they used to do the same thing earlier.

In most cases, it doesn't matter if you ship a feature couple of days late, but what matters is that when it goes into the users hands, they embrace it like their own. It doesn't have to be one more thing that they have to worry about, with all the worries that they already have in the chaotic world they are in.

More than creating a product that users want, first create a product that users need. And create a product that users can rely on, subconsciously!
